Introduction
This report outlines the successful construction of drinking water and toilet facilities in the communities of Mohati and Muralikhola, Surkhet. The project was made possible through the financial support of World Share, organized by the Karnali Network for Integrated Development (KNFID), in collaboration with the School Management Committee (SMC). The initiative aims to improve sanitation and access to clean drinking water, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of the local population, particularly students.

Objectives
- To provide access to safe drinking water for the communities of Mohati and Muralikhola.

Activities Undertaken
- Site Assessment: Initial assessments were conducted to identify suitable locations for the installation of water supply systems and toilet facilities.
- Community Engagement: Meetings were held with local stakeholders, including community members and the School Management Committee, to discuss project objectives and gather input.
- Construction of Water Supply Systems:
- Installation of water pipelines from the nearest water source to the community.
- Construction of water storage tanks to ensure a steady supply of drinking water.
- Construction of Toilet Facilities:
- Building separate toilet blocks for boys and girls in schools and community areas.
- Ensuring that the facilities are accessible to all, including persons with disabilities.
- Hygiene Promotion Campaigns: Conducted workshops and awareness programs to educate the community about the importance of hygiene and sanitation practices.
Outcomes
- Improved Access to Drinking Water: Many households along with the school now have access to clean drinking water, significantly reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases.
- Enhanced Sanitation Facilities: The construction of drinking water and toilet facilities has provided students and community members with safe and hygienic options, promoting better health and dignity.
- Increased Awareness: The hygiene promotion campaigns have reached many individuals, fostering a culture of cleanliness and health consciousness in the community.
Challenges Faced
- Logistical Issues: Transportation of materials to remote areas posed challenges, which were mitigated through careful planning and local partnerships.
- Weather Conditions: Unpredictable weather affected the construction timeline, but adjustments were made to ensure project completion.
Conclusion
The construction of drinking water and toilet facilities in Mohati and Muralikhola has significantly improved the quality of life for the residents, particularly for students. The collaboration between World Share, KNFID, and the School Management Committee has proven effective in addressing critical needs in the community. Continued efforts in maintenance and hygiene education will be essential to sustain the benefits of this project.
